Emerge Festival 2022 is an immersive event that allows us to explore our relationship with food and what that will look like in the future. What does it mean to eat in a world of environmental extremes? The Emerge Festival aims to answer that question. Together, the festival allows us to think and taste our way through what alternative forms of food production, distribution and consumption we should consider to build a more inclusive, equitable and delicious culinary world.
A poster needed to be designed that would be showcased at the festival. The poster had to encourage attendees to ponder our food future and what it's like "eating on the edges".
I designed a poster that brings attention to the soil crisis we are currently facing. Intensive agriculture has left us with degraded and unhealthy soil. This is a huge problem, considering that soil provides a host of crucial services for both people and the planet. In fact, it is estimated that 95% of our food is directly or indirectly produced on our soils. Soil is quite literally our support system. We can't survive without it.
